Paul Sergeant is principal of PSE (Paul Sergeant Events) which focusses on identifying and securing major, bespoke events for the Australian market and working with venues to help them secure much needed content. Additionally, Paul has joined the Board of PMY Group where he supports the PMY business as PMY work incredibly closely with venues to help them make wise, informed decisions in the highly complex but rapidly developing space of commercialising digital technology.
Prior to setting up PSE, Paul was CEO of Etihad Stadium where he spent three and a half years at the helm of Australia’s busiest stadium culminating with the delivery of a summer of massive events that included UFC193, the Speedway Grand Prix, Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and Invitational Darts Challenge.
Paul spent two years (2010-2012) as General Manager at Sydney's Allphones Arena and prior to that spent a year on a short-term position of CEO at Llanelli’s Scarlets, a professional rugby union team in South West Wales. The one year contract enabled Paul to learn about the challenges and intricacies associated with operating a professional sports team. Prior to that, Paul spent three tears as GM of Suncorp Stadium and prior to that was Chief Executive of Cardiff's Millennium Stadium where he played an integral role in turning around the fortunes of the then ailing Welsh venue.
Having spent his early career in an operational capacity working on festivals, air shows, street festivals and a host of other outdoor events, Sergeant found himself at London’s Wembley Stadium as Junior Assistant Merchandising Manager in the late 1980s before rising rapidly through the ranks to become Commercial Director in June 1991 and eventually became Stadium Director in 1995.
Paul’s successful career was recognised in the 2006 New Year’s Honours list when he was awarded an O.B.E. by Her Majesty the Queen for Services to Business.
